Remote Engineering Support — Dirio Gas Pipeline, PNG
From July 2020 I was contracted to remotely support a pipeline construction project in Papua New Guinea — the Dirio Gas Pipeline — assisting with a specific work package for the team completing the works on the ground.
Remote support on a construction project means the job is largely about documentation and compliance: reviewing and compiling the paperwork the team on site needed, and specifically making sure the electrical and controls packages were completed in line with the client’s specification. It’s less hands-on than field commissioning, but no less exacting — errors in documentation on a project like this surface much later, and much more expensively, than errors caught during review.
The engagement ran for around nine months, wrapping up in March 2021, and overlapped with the other contract work I was doing under True Hybrid Energy at the time.
