Technical Support Engineer at Verton

From February 2023 to January 2024 I worked as a Technical Support Engineer at Verton, a company behind one of the more interesting pieces of industrial technology I’ve worked with: the world’s first remote-controlled load-management system.

Verton’s pitch is making heavy industry safer, faster and smarter, and the support role reflected that directly — this wasn’t a helpdesk job, it was field support and technical support for systems where reliability has real safety implications. Troubleshooting had to be fast, accurate, and grounded in a real understanding of how the load-management hardware and its controls behaved on site, not just in a manual.

A year in a role like this teaches you a lot about diagnosing under pressure and translating between the people operating the equipment and the engineering behind it — skills that carried straight through into the IoT and service management work that followed.
